Have you ever noticed that some of your content performs better than others? Sometimes your content is persuasive, encouraging customers to click, to stay, to buy… and sometimes it isn’t. But why is that?
Steve Cartwright from website-designs.com has an explanation:
[blockquote text=’You know that words can inspire, incite action, arouse curiosity and persuade and motivate people to do things, such as make purchases or subscribe to your email list. Knowing these words and phrases and having the knowledge on how best to use them can make a significant difference, within the content you create.’ text_color=” width=” line_height=’undefined’ background_color=” border_color=” show_quote_icon=’no’ quote_icon_color=”]
[blockquote text=’You might wonder why the content you create cannot just educate and inform and why you need to use persuasive techniques in your content. It’s because the content you create will be the only thing the majority of your audience actually read, watch or listen to. And if you can persuade them in your content then your conversion rates and click-through rates will be much better. And as you know, better conversions means more customers which means more profits.’ text_color=” width=” line_height=’undefined’ background_color=” border_color=” show_quote_icon=’no’ quote_icon_color=”]
So what can we do to persuade our readers? How do we take our content from good to great, from informative to persuasive? It’s easier than you think. There are a few simple words that you can use to boost the effectiveness of your content and convince your readers that they need what you’re offering.
You
This is a big one. Using “you” in your content immediately makes it more personal and relevant to your reader.
Because
If you provide your readers with reasons why they should do something, they will be more likely to do it.
New
Everybody loves new things! Your readers are looking for what’s new and different. Help them find what they want by using words like “new” in your content.
Emotional Words and Phrases
The best way to convince somebody to do something is to appeal to their emotions. Words like “paralyzed, “deadline,” “limited, “energize,” “empower,” “overcome,” and “controversial” grab your readers’ attention and get them emotionally invested in your content.
[blockquote text=’When you’re using persuasive words, the real trick is to use them sparingly and strategically. Too many and your content will sound like a forced sales page and no one wants that. With just the right amount of persuasive words in tactical locations, you can see your content’s conversion rates improve.’ text_color=” width=” line_height=’undefined’ background_color=” border_color=” show_quote_icon=’no’ quote_icon_color=”]
